ACCIDENTS Saturday, 6 a.m.: Matthew Darling, 24, 262 Hillsdale Drive, was operating his vehicle on Township Road 164 when it went off the road, into a ditch and rolled over.

Darling was cited with failure to control his vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident. Sunday, 11:24 am: Kenneth Henry, 26, Cincinnati, was turning his vehicle off U.S. 36 onto Ohio 16 when it was struck in the rear by a vehicle operated by Ronald McClain, 43, 19288 Ohio 79. Sunday, 2:47 p.m.: Shawn Wilds, 27, Millersburg, was operating his vehicle on Walnut Street when Lisa McCoy, 17, 43390 Ohio 541, pulled her vehicle from Burt Avenue and the two vehicles collided. Wilds was cited for driving while under suspension and McCoy was cited for failure to yield the right way.

Sunday, 6 p.m., Susan Thomas, 44, 17736 Ohio 83, was operating her vehicle on Township Road 15 near Wills Creek when it went off the road and struck a tree. Thomas was cited with failure to control her vehicle. Erman is recovering from major surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, Room H50-34, 9500 Euclid Cleveland, Ohio 44195. Man not dead COLUMBUS (AP) The city's fire department is defending itself after news reports said a car accident victim was pronounced dead by paramedics and then later found to be alive. Chief Mike Fultz said the man, one of three victims taken to a hospital after an accident Thursday, arrived at the hospital with a pulse and vital signs. "He never stopped breathing and he was never pronounced dead," Fultz said. The radio and television news reports and the fire department did not identify the man, who was recovering from his injuries.

Pt Ooadv Ooutiy First quarter July 31 WILLIAM CLARY VENICE, Fla. William Shannon Clary, 73, of 609 Francine Lane, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998 in Venice, Fla. Born Feb. 8, 1925 in Coshocton, he was the son of the late William and Nellie Clary. In 1996, he married Eleanor Clary.

She survives. Mr. Clary attended two years at Ohio State University and was a florist. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Along with his wife, he is survived by a son, William T. Clary of Ft. Mills, S.C.; a daughter, Nancy S. Tom-maselli of Daphanie, seven grandchildren, Jon, Lauren and Kayla Clary, Erin, Chad and Jason Novelli and Bobby Tommaselli; and one great-grandchild. Mr.

Clary was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Clary. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 1998 at the South Lawn Cemetery. DR. FRED SHIPPS PORTLAND, Ore.

Dr. Fred C. Shipps, died Friday, July 3, 1998, in Portland, Ore. Born April 20, 1920, in Coshocton, he was the son of the late Lucile (Hunter) and Fred Shipps. Mr.

Shipps graduated from Coshocton High School in 1938 and from Ohio Wes-leyan University in 1942. He attended Western Reserve Medical School, served in U.S. Public Health for his military requirement, and later did his residency in radiology at St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland. Dr.

Shipps retired in 1985 after practicing at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Ore, for 33 years during which time he served as chief of staff. He was a pioneer in the world of computerized axial formography by bringing the first CAT scan equipment to the western states. He was one of the first to invent an angiographic injector, which led to creation of his company, Medical Instruments. Mr. Shipps is survived by a son, William Shipps and wife Debbie; a daughter, Sandra Hageman and husband Tom; five grandchildren; and a sister, Janis Jumper of Coshocton.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores, in 1997. He was a member and officer of the Oregon Medical Society and Oregon Radiological Society. July 9 July 16 July 23 Obituaries LULA HAM NEWCOMERSTOWN Lula M. Ham, 88, a resident of the Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of 619 Martin Luther King Drive, died Sunday, July 12, 1998, at the Riverside Manor Care Center. Born March 17, 1910, in Rock Run, she was the daughter of the late Walter Chandler and Alma Mae (Little) Chandler Gilmore.

She married Dolphus Ham of Detroit. He preceded her in death in 1968. Mrs. Ham attended Newcomerstown High School and was a homemaker. She also worked in the office of Dr.

Henry Schrickel in Newcomerstown for many years. She was a member of St. Paul's A.M. E. Church in Newcomerstown and served as a stewardess and Sunday School treasurer.

She enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, and fishing. Mrs. Ham is survived by a daughter, Betty Harris McRee of Jackson, two grandsons, Michael Harris and Erik Baker, of Jackson, an aunt and uncle; a sister-in-law, Marian Chandler of Akron; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Odell Chandler Coker and Ermadell Chandler; a brother, Charles Chandler; a step-father, Rev. George Gilmore.

Her remains are to be cremated. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 1998, at West Lawn Cemetery in Newcomerstown with Chaplain Floid Parker and the Rev. John Franklin Little officiating. There will be no calling hours observed.

The family suggests that memorials be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. Third Dover, Ohio 44622. The Ourant Funeral Home is handling all of the arrangements. Today's prayer God, free us from bitterness and help us to live today in gratitude for all the good in our lives. Amen.

The Controlling Board will consider the $500,000 deal with plumbing contractor Bruner at a July 27 meeting. The amount Bruner originally sought was unknown. Canal formerly of Coshocton, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at her residence. Born June 17, 1926, in Roscoe, she was the daughter of the late Jeff and Gladys (Funk) Foster.

She married C. Duane Shiverdecker, who preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1997. Mrs. Shiverdecker was a homemaker and a retired employee of Neff Lettering Company of Greenville, having worked there for 25 years.

She is survived by a son, Mark Shiverdecker of Russia; two daughters, Becky J. Fisher of Troy and Lynn Fetters of Ansonia; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Harrison Foster; and a sister, Ethel Wilson of Coshocton. Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Shiverdecker was preceded in death by a step-father, Melvin Lapp and four sisters. Services were held Saturday, July 11, 1998 at the Oliver Funeral Home in Greenville with the Rev.

Jerry Fair officiating. Burial was in Brock Cemetery in Versailles. DORIS EVULICH MORGAN HILL, Calif. Doris (Cheney) Evulich, 72, of 14330 Murphy formerly of West Lafayette, died Thursday, July 9, 1998 in California. She was a resident of San Martin for 11 years.

Mrs. Evulich is survived by her husband, Joseph Evulich; a daughter, Diana Ligon and husband Dave of California; a son, Jack Medley and wife Judy of Coshocton; two stepsons, Roy and Barris Evulich; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Lynda Sla-gle of San Jose, and Judy Tubbs and husband Charles David of Coshocton; four brothers, Archie Cheney and wife DeAnna, Charles Cheney and wife Janet, all of Coshocton, John Cheney and wife Joyce of Galena and Homer Cheney Jr. and wife Wanda of California; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 1998 at the Santa Clara Mission Cemetery in Santa Clara under the direction of The Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey Morgan Hill, Calif.
