The Spanish Royal party first visited the Spanish embassy, later being driven to the vatican in papal motor cars. NEWCOMERSTOWN HAPPENINGS OF LIVE INTEREST By Staff Correspondent BAXTER FUNERAL HELD ON MONDAY Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the late residence in Newcomerstown for Mrs. Elizabeth Hoagland Baxter, 87, who died at her home Saturday evening. Her death was due to infirmities.

Burial was made in the Newcomerstown cemetery. Rev. Louis C. Momberg, pastor of the M. P.

church, officiated. The aged woman was born on December 3, 1936 in Newcomerstown. Her parents were John and Ann Neighbor Hoagland. Mrs. Baxter had been ill at her home on River-st for several months.

She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Ada Shoemaker, Long Beach, Mrs. Blanche Meek, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Annie Minish, Winchester, Mrs. Grace Tingle, of Newcomerstown; two sons, R.

F. Baxter and C. C. Baxter, both of Newcomerstown. Eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren survive.

KLAN GIVES PURSE TO AN EVANGELIST Four hooded members of the Ku Klux Klan entered the M. E. church Sunday evening just follow. ing the offering and presented Evangelist W. E.

Flemming, of Pooll, with a package containing money. After the presentation the robed men left the church. The money, it was said, was given the evangelist on account of his wife being confined to her home in Peoll sufering from injuries recelved in an auto accident on elec tion day. Mrs. Flemming fell from her husband's automobile and was hurt.

Her condition is considered serious. The church was filled to capacity Sunday evening. The evangelistic services met with such success that it was advisable to continue them thruout this week. Evangelist Flemming, of Peoli is assisted by the singers, Mr. and Mrs.

J. L. Schell, of Springtield, 0. SPECIAL SERVICES AT BAKERSVILLE 'The special meetings in the Bakersville Presbyterian church started off successfully, the Rev. Glenrote McQueen, who is in charge at that church this week, told a reporter Monday.

Sunday evening was the first of the series of meetings. The church was filled to capacity and a good sermon was enjoyed. The meetings will close next Sunday evening. Dr. Kensey J.

Stewart, of Carrollton, has arrived in Newcomerstown and wilt assist the Rev Mr. McQueen in the services at Bakersville church this week. Owing to the Sunday service at Bakersville there will be no even ing service in the Newcomerstown Presbyterian church this Sunday. FORCED TO LEAVE COLLEGE COURSE Russell McQueen, son of the Rev. and Mrs.

Glenroie McQueen, pastor of the Presbyterian church, has returned from Wooster college to his home in Newcomerstown. He was obliged to return home on account of his health. Russell was quite ill early this summer from what was believed to have been sleeping sicknss. He became ill again at college, it was said. and he came home and will not conclude his college term.

NO THANKSGIVING PROGRAMS PLANNED The Newcomerstown public schools will not have any special Thanksgiving programs preceding Thanksgiving. The schools will be shut down from Wednesday evening, preceding Thanksgiving until Monday morning of the next week, Principal H. L. Donohoe said last evening. MISS ANKNEY TO SING FOR RADIO Radio fans in Newcomerstown will have the opportunity of hearing 0 Tuscarawas-co girl's voice broadcasted from the Drake hotel Chicago this evening at 10 p.

Miss Ankney is taking vocal training in Chicago. IS RECOVERING 0. E. Wills, Chestnut-st, is slowrecovering from injuries he received last Saturday morning when he was struck by an automobile, while he was crossing the street. He is suffering from three broken ribs and cuts and bruises.
